While Animal Vegetable Mineral might refer to a game of 20 Questions, this exhibition is not a test nor does it have a single answer. Instead it includes over 20 artworks from the Art Center’s permanent collection that portray unique artistic reactions to the topic of land use. Understanding Abstraction is presented in a way that slowly leads visitors from realistic art to pure non-objective art. What visitors might find is that the art that appears to be the most straightforward is full of abstract principles, while art that initially appears overly complex is much less complicated than expected.
