Sydney LynchSydney Lynch

Sydney Lynch grew up in rural Connecticut, moving west permanently after falling in love with the wide open spaces while working on the Navajo Reservation midway through college. After earning a BFA at University of Colorado, she made jewelry in Boulder for ten years, then settled unexpectedly in Nebraska. She maintains a studio in Lincoln, where she creates both a production line and one of a kind pieces in combinations of sterling, 18k and 22k gold. Always influenced by landscape and natural forms, her house is filled with collections of rocks, shells, pottery shards and other found objects whose shapes and textures have caught her eye during years of walks and travels. Sydney’s newest work is inspired by the subtle, repetitive forms found in the flora and wild grasses of the prairie. “In miniaturizing a vast open landscape by creating these pieces of jewelry, I am able to focus on the details of my surroundings which might otherwise be easily overlooked.”

PURCHASE PATRON PROGRAM AND ART COLLECTORS VALET SERVICE ENCOURAGE SALES

In some cases, potential buyers are deterred by the need to carry their purchases through the festival grounds. To help in that situation, the Art Collectors provide free valet service for art purchased during the festival. When a piece of work is sold, the artist can encourage the purchaser to call the telephone number provided to have the artwork picked up from the artist’s booth and stored safely and securely in a Thompson Electric Company trailer. When the purchaser leaves the festival, he or she can call the same number to arrange for pickup at the Electric Innovations trailer located on the west edge of the festival grounds, just next to the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center.

Prior to each year’s festival, potential buyers deposit approximately $20,000 in the ArtSplash Purchase Patron Program. In making their advance deposits, program members commit to spending the amount of their deposit on artwork deposited at the festival. Information about how to take advantage of this opportunity for encouraging sales will be included in the exhibiting artist packet.
