Ann Royer

Ann Royer was born in Sioux City. She began taking classes at the Sioux City Art Center as a young child, shortly after the Art Center opened in 1938. She attended Bryant Elementary and North Junior High Schools, and then graduated from St. Mary’s Hall in Faribault, Minnesota. After studying at the Colorado College Fine Arts Center and the University of Minnesota, she began creating art professionally in Duluth and quickly achieved wide acclaim. In 1972, the Sioux City Art Center organized a one-person exhibition of her work. She currently resides in Cedar Rapids.

The Art Center owns a total of ten works by Royer including four acrylic on canvas paintings, four pastel drawings and two large bronze sculptures. Along with Untitled #7, the two bronzes, Condemarr (1994) and Don Quixote (1974) are on permanent display.
