Hermann Saftleven the Younger
Herman Saftleven the Younger is a Baroque (c. 1600-1750) painter who was born into a family of painters and lived most of his life in the city of Utrecht in the Netherlands. During his lifetime in the seventeenth century, he was one of Holland’s best-known artists. In 1635 he was one of the artists who decorated Prince Frederick Henry's palace of Honselaersdijck, south of The Hague. In 1645 he stopped painting pictures of imaginary Italian landscapes to depict his native Dutch scenery instead.
