The Art Center is always interested in entertaining gifts to the collection, and is open to significant gifts that expand or change the direction of the Permanent Collection. [view new acquisitions]
Exhibition is a primary qualification for a work being accepted into the Permanent Collection. It is important to recognize the characters of an object, associated with its cultural and historical context; i.e., its history and relationship from an exhibitor’s point of view.
The Permanent Collection is currenlty focused on two areas: First, to collect work by artists from the Upper Midwest (a region that includes Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota); and, second, to collect works on paper by nationally recognized artists. New areas may be developed through gifts. There maybe special conditions of circumstance and opportunity to acquire work through purchases outside the collection focus/goals. |
