Docents

The Art Center’s Docent Program consists of generous individuals of all ages. They are extensively trained in specific areas of interest and are mentored until they are completely comfortable with their duties. Docents can specialize in two different areas:

GENERAL tours
(includes exhibition and building tours)
General docents provide visitors with a brief history of the Art Center, and guide tours through the Art Center’s current exhibitions.

ARTWORKS tours
ARTWORKS docents offer tours to fifth-grade students of the Art Center’s exhibitions, and close with a hands-on project in one of the classrooms.

Teacher Assistants

Teacher AssistantThe Education Department constantly needs assistants to help its art teachers. Assistants support art teachers with youth and adult art classes, workshops, birthday parties, and special events.

Other volunteer opportunities offered by the Art Center include: gallery attendants, clerical support, outreach activities, gift gallery attendants, Artsplash volunteers, and volunteer receptionists. Due to the wide variety of options, volunteers often change jobs or add new responsibilities as their personal interests grow and transform.
