Terri Parish McGaffin
Terri Parish McGaffin was born in Davenport, Iowa. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drawing and painting from Drake University and a Master of Fine Arts degree from University of South Dakota. She has taught at Morningside College since 1990 and is currently the chair of the Department of Art. She has exhibited work in venues across the country, including a one-person exhibition organized by the Sioux City Art Center in 2009. Her paintings reflect the fascinating ways in which the natural world can be translated into paint with the assistance of photography. Since the camera lens focuses on objects at a single distance within a scene, the detail within a photograph can vary—not unlike what happens with human vision.
